MEET SHEEN

Sheen Jamaal, a North Carolina native, earned his B.A. in Dance Performance from UNC-Charlotte in 2016 and moved to New York City to intern with Tony Award-winning choreographer George Faison. Since then, Sheen has carved a path as a multifaceted artist, with dance credits spanning Showtime at the Apollo (2nd Place), Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It, Laurieann Gibson’s Beyond the Lights, and VH1’s Sorority Sisters.
His commercial and fashion credits include a national Reebok campaign, the Bimzelx pharmaceutical spot, Imitation of Christ (NYFW), and print features for I Am Dance Book (Hal Banfield) and Brooklyn Tech Week. In 2019, Sheen founded Pinilla Productions, a creative agency rooted in storytelling and BIPOC expression. He was also awarded a dance residency at the Fashion Institute of Technology- New York.
In 2020, Sheen gained national attention as the organizer of the Dance for George protest, which received press coverage from Nike, the Biden Campaign, State Farm, The Guardian, Dance Spirit, and more.
To date, Sheen has directed and produced eight Paradigm Showcase productions, and continues to elevate independent art through performance, protest, and platform-building. With every project, he remains committed to creating transformative experiences and amplifying the culture—one stage at a time.
